South Africa vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI match, Sri Lanka tour of South Africa 2019

South Africa vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI match was played on Super Sunday 10 Mar 2019 in Kingsmead Durban. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to ball first.

The opener came bat but Handricks couldn’t score more than 4 runs of 11 balls.Du Plessis came to bat and built a partnership of 97 runs along with de Kock where du Plessis departed on 36 of 27 balls with 7 fours. De Kock scored his 4  ODI century and built another partnership of 66 runs with van der Dussen where de Kock scored magnificent 121 runs of 108 balls with 16 fours and 2 sixes and departs. Van der Dussen couldn’t take his innings of 50 runs of 67 balls with 3 fours ahead. David Miller played some good shots but unfortunately got out on 41 of 46 balls with 3 fours. Prestorius scored 31 of 26 balls with 2 fours and a six.At the end Phehlukwayo scored quick 38 runs of 15 balls with 5 fours anda six which helped South to reach 331-5 in 50 overs.

Udana picked 2 wickets, Malinga, kamidu Mendis and Rajitha got 1 wicket each.

Sri Lanka started the chase with there opener Avishka Fernando and Dickwella, the opener failed to give a start as Dickwella got out scoring 2 runs of 7 balls and Fernando scored 23 of 26 balls with 4 fours. But when the partnership between Oshada Fernando and Kushal Mendis of 39 runs looking good, it started raining and washed off almost 2 hours of play, so the referee reduced the overs to 24 and got a new target  193 to win , where the lankan were 76-2 runs in 16 overs and had to score 118runs 8 overs. In the very first ball after the rain stops Oshada Fernando got out scoring  25 of 44 balls with 3 fours , Thisara Perera scored 12 runs of 14 balls. Kushal Mendis played some brilliant shots but couldn’t score more of 41 runs of 34 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Kamindu Mendis scored 8 of 13 balls. Sri Lanka scored 121-5 in 24 overs and lost the match by 71 runs.

Tahir picked 2 wickets, Shamsi, Rabada and Ngidi got one wicket each.

De Kock got man of the match award and South Africa seals the 5 match series with  3-0.
