 Virat Kohli himself came to open the inning for RCB along with Parthiv Patel and gave a good start to the team as they scored 48 runs in the powerplay without losing any wicket. But in the 7th over of the inning Shreyas Gopal took his dream wicket by departing Virat Kohli on 23 run (3 fours) of 25 balls. Its a magical match for Shreyas Gopal who picked the wicket of Virat, and then de Villiers on 13 run of 9 balls with 2 boundaries and the wicket of Hetmyer. Wickets continued to fall at one end but at the other end Parthiv Patel settled down and scored the valuable runs for the team. Stoinis came to join Parthiv after the wicket of Hetmyer and scored 53 runs for the 4th wicket where Parthiv played a brilliant inning of 67 runs (9 fours, a six) of 41 balls and was sent back to pavillion by Jofra Archer in the 18th over of the match. Stoinis  at end played some good shots along with Moen Ali and helped the team to set a competitive total of 158-4 in 20 overs with his 31 runs of 28 balls with 2 fours and a six.

 Ajinkya Rahane along with Buttler gave a good start to the team after Rahane was dropped by Kohli on 1 run which caused the team RCB and they scored 60 runs for the first wicket, ultimately Chahal gave the break through by departing Rahane on 22 runs (4 fours). Buttler once again showed the class and completed his 2nd half century in Vivo IPL season 12 where he scored 59 runs (8 fours, a six) of 43 balls, Chahal got him out in his 3rd over. Steven Smith was dropped on 23 in a crucial moment where RCB could come back to the match by Umesh Yadav. Smith took the score close to target along with Rahul Tripathi and finally Smith had to depart as he was caught by Umesh on 38 runs of 31 balls with 2 fours and a six. Rahul Tripathi at end finished off the match with six and he scored 34* runs of 23 balls with 3 fours and a six and RR won the match by 7 wicket as they scored 164 runs in 19.5 balls.

Y Chahal bowled brilliantly and picked 2 wickets in his 4 overs conceding 17 runs and Siraj got a wicket.
