   6th Match of VIVO IPL Season 12, KKR vs KXIP was played on Wed 27th March 2019 in Eden Gardens Kolkata. Punjab won the toss and elected to bowl first.

 KKR started the innings with Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine who gave a quick start to the team by scoring 25 runs in the 2nd over of the match which was bowled by the debutante Varun Chakravarthy. Punjab departed both the opener in the consecutive overs where Lynn departed by Shami on 10 runs of 10 balls with 2 fours Narine departed on 24 runs (1 four, 3 sixes) of 9 balls by Vijoen. After 2 back to back wickets, Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa played aggressively and scored runs all along the ground and built a patnerdhip of 110 runs for the 3rd wicket. Nitish Rana looked very comfortable against the bowling attack and hit 7 sixes in his innings of 63 runs (2 fours, 7 sixes) of 34 balls and was departed by Varun Chakravarthy in his 3rd over. Russell came to bat where he was departed on 4 runs by Shami but the Umpires declared the not out as their are only three fielders in the 30 yard circle and gave a free hit to the batsman after that the Russell Muscle show began where he scored 48 runs of 17 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes and was departed by Andrew Tye in the last over of the match. Robin Uthappa played a supporting role by playing his unbeaten innings of 68 runs (6 fours, 2 sixes) of 50 balls at one end which helped the team to set a score of 218-4 in 20 overs.

  Kings XI Punjab lost the wicket of KL Rahul in the 2nd over of the match and was departed by Ferguson on  1 run. Chris Gayle tried to score quick runs but was departed by Russell on 20 runs (2 fours,2 sixes). Mayank Agarwal played some good and huge shots but in between Punjab lost their third wicket as Sarfaraz was departed by Russell. Miller along with Mayank  built a quick partnership of 74 runs where Mayank played an innings of 58 runs of 34 (6 fours, 1 six) and departed by P Chawla. Miller and Mandeep tried hard but falls short of 28 runs as Punjab scored 190-4 in 20 overs where Miller scored unbeaten 59 runs (5 fours, 3 sixes) of 40 balls and Mandeep scored unbeaten 33 runs (4 fours,1 six ) of 15 balls.

KKR won the match by 28 runs and Russell became the player of the match.
